The first time I heard about the effectiveness of Voice of Customer (VOC) data, it felt like cheating. More than AI threatening jobs, I thought customer researchers would. Why even hire a copywriter if you can just swipe words directly from your customers and plop them straight into your emails and sales pages? There is more to the craft of copy – it’s not as simple as copy+paste – but I’m still convinced that if brands only did research and copy+pasted what they learned, it could be a decently viable copy strategy.
