Technical issues :(

Apologies Reader,

A technical domain issue prevented the podcast notification email from reaching most of you last week.

Alex's episode was so good and I really want to give it the takeaways their time of day, so instead of posting this week's new episode today, I'm waiting until next week –  to give you a chance to listen to last week’s episode.

(If you were one of the lucky few who did get the notification email and already listened to it, here’s an alternative. It’s an interesting podcast idea that I’ve been meaning to start listening to.)

Okay, here’s the email you were supposed to get last Wednesday:

“Don’t do it.”
When Alex Sanfilippo pitched the idea of ungating his $1200 podcasting course, all hotseat coaches advised against it.
He did it anyway, and in the past year-plus, 6,000 people have taken the course.
Were his coaches wrong?
Their premise was right – people don’t value free.
So how did Alex succeed in getting so many successful course completions?
Listen in to this week’s Email Swipes Takeaways episode for the 3 things I think made the strategy work:
What other ideas do you not want to miss from the episode?
(04:50) Takeaway #1: Look at cold pitching as a sprint, not as a project
(05:06) Takeaway #2: The more research you have, the stronger your hypotheses are going to be
(05:55) Takeaway #3: Give yourself the time to let the full process happen, without pressure
(06:08) Takeaway #4: Be quick with cold (but not in the way you think)
(07:12) Takeaway #5.1: Don’t be scared to follow up
(07:41) Takeaway #5.2: Find that balance of following best practices
(10:32) Takeaway #6: Responses is where you’re going to feel that human relationship-ness of email, for better or for worse
(11:44) Takeaway #7: Again, find your space within best practices – and use this to know if you’re breaking them safely
– Nikki 🆓
P.S. If you didn’t listen to last week’s* episode because “I don’t cold pitch so what will I learn?” – it was one of my favorite episodes that was chock full of really valuable nuggets that work cross-industry.

*Obvs this is now last-last week’s episode

This is email #5 in my Considering Kit series. If you’re not interested in the pros and cons of Kit (formerly ConvertKit) – or in the free consult you’ll earn when you sign up via my affiliate link – click here and you won’t get the series emails, but you’ll still stay subscribed for the other stuff. I’ll be honest: I majorly procrastinated writing this email. Kit is a tool I love, and this email is about what I love about it. So why the procrastination? Because I’m an affiliate. Which means...

Whether you're worried about the ActiveCampaign price hike – – or you're finally starting your own email list and want to set yourself up for success – – you might be considering (Convert)Kit. Meanwhile, I'm considering doing an email series on what I love (and don't love) about Kit. Is that of interest? Do you want to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly? Hit reply with the number that most resonates: 1 = Yesireee, send it ASAP 2 = I'd read it, but I'm not considering Kit 3 = I already use...
